They rob civs and shoot cops, but the core of Life are the interactions between different gangs. Don't play as civ or cop.īandits are who Life missions are for. Cops are there to get shot (except SWAT). Typically, there are three factions: Police, Civs and Bandits (Rebels tend to be reskinned bandits).Ĭivs are there to get robbed. Regarding Life modes, I may be able to help out: Thing to remember is that if you join one server and don't like it, just try another before completely writing off the game! Don't forget once you get the hang of the editor you can just go nuts and do whatever you fancy! There's lots more to it, and subdivisions of these, but that's sort of the three I generally see going around. I'm not exactly sure how it works but that's only because I avoid it.Īnyway, hope this sort of gets you started.ish. From what I can tell it usually involves being a civilian or a policeman somewhere, and creating a daily life kinda thing. This isn't my cup of tea, nor is it what most people on this subreddit like to do, but it's still a large part of the community. Can sometimes lead to decent cooperation, but also lone wolf sort of things.ģ) your pretty casual or role-playing servers. Then take over the map with whatever assets you choose. People create things like invade and annex or domination servers, which are effectively a small group of players (sometimes coordinated, sometimes not) with an arsenal of any weapon you want (you pick out your own stuff at the start from boxes or a virtual thing). This includes your big team games that replicate battlefield sector controls, or King of the hill stuff (that big playerunknowns battlegrounds started as a heavily scripted game mode for arma 3)Ģb) Kinda mixes into 2, but in a coop atmosphere. This is probably the most authentic Arma experience, really based on immersion and makes you feel like a part of a bigger, organised battle. I recommend you try this experience out at least once in Arma as it's just an absolutely unique thing to do. This means there's a hierarchy of people with commanders and squad leaders down to the individual grunt with a rifle or an LMG. A group of about 40+ people sit down at a predetermined time for 2 hours or so to play a specific mission (usually unique, and made by someone in their milsim community). These are my bread and butter and what I personally enjoy doing the most. I generally see three different 'paths' an arma 3 player can take that don't often intersect with each other: Now don't get scared if that sounds like a lot to take in, because you don't need to make things yourself unless you want to. Game modes, content, maps, vehicles, entire UI and medical changes are mostly made for the individual. The truth was also pretty disappointing, and I didn't get it on my winning runs, since it seemed like mostly a waste of time and there isn't really an ending to speak of to be affected by it.Almost everything you find in the public sphere of Arma is made by the community in some form. So, how much do we know about the mission? It looks like you can theoretically get off the island from pretty much anywhere, but are there other people you can meet up with? Can we actually get on an evac chopper, or can we just fly or boat ourselves off? Just curious about how much other stuff there is in the mission, beyond the obvious meet up with FIA and NATO events. So, I did another run that involved me walking all the way to the NATO airbase and to the Heliport to the west of it, finding really nothing, and then flying out on a helicopter alone. Ended up having to go to the nearby port and grab a boat, and left one guy behind because the boat only sits three. Got NATO and FIA, went to the AAF airfield, found only death and disappointment, no helicopter.

The run I finally got off the island with a couple compatriots. I get that dying is a legitimate ending to the game, but it just meant going back to the menu, then relaunching the mission and sitting through the intro stuff.

I'm not particularly great at ArmA, so I kinda save scum a lot, so the lack of saving really screwed me over. I went back and did the second ending, much to my frustration.

Although it could be an interesting series of missions. Escorting journalist, fueling up at truck, great stuff, no sarcasm. Other than getting my air support shot down, get to blow shit up and then get a nice slice of life with the epilogue mission. because the Brits were always kinda evasive assholes to me, and that was a pretty good ending.
